Ad Lib | MacBrowse

Note: Many of the archives posted to the developer FTP site as of September 15 hace been compressed using StuffIt 5 or later. For best results, please download the free StuffIt Expander™ 5 software from Aladdin Systems, Inc. StuffIt Expander is also available on the Mac OS 9 CD included in the October 1999 ADC Mailing. If you have installed Mac OS 9 there will be no need to download any new version of StuffIt Expander since Mac OS 9 includes StuffIt Expander 5.1.2, which is compatible with all newer and older format archives.

Ad Lib v3.0.1

Ad Lib v3.0.1 is a 'final' version of Ad Lib, an editor for MacApp views. You will need to use this version of Ad Lib if you are running Mac OS 9. (This version is identical to Ad Lib v3.0.1b4

Ad Lib version 3 incorporates additional view templates to improve support for all new views added to MacApp Release 13. Several annoying bugs have been fixed as well. As with earlier versions of Ad Lib 3.x, this version of Ad Lib will read view resources compatible with MacApp v3.x and later and automatically convert them into the version supported by MacApp Release 13. During the conversion a conversion log is optionally generated giving some details of the conversion process.

The new view format implemented in MacApp Release 13 and supported in Ad Lib 3.0.1 provides safety mechanisms which prevent the crashes usually encountered in older version of Ad Lib when dealing with custom view and behavior data. Note that Ad Lib 2.6.4 will not be able to edit files saved by Ad Lib v3.0; andview resources created by Ad Lib v3.0 cannot be used in applications created with versions of MacApp earlier than Release 13.

If you run into a problem with Ad Lib v3.0.1 or would like to make an enhancement request please submit the bur report or enhancement request by going to the MacApp Bug Reporting Station on the web. You will be able to submit bugs as well as search submitted but unprocessed bugs.

Ad Lib v2.6.5

Ad Lib v2.6.5 is a 'final' version of Ad Lib, an editor for MacApp views. This version can be run under Mac OS 8.5. (Ad Lib 2.6.4 generally crashes under Mac OS 8.5.)

This version of Ad Lib will edit view resources compatible with MacApp v3.x and later, including MacApp Release 13.

Apple acquired Ad Lib in early 1997 and is now the sole source for this MacApp view editing product.

MacBrowse v2.2.13

MacBrowse is a C++ browser. This version has been tuned for MacApp Release 13.

Along with the MacBrowse application are included a separate parser application, MacParse, and an AppleScript droplet. Drop a folder onto the parser droplet to have it create a MacBrowse file for all the C++ source files nested within the folder.

MacBrowse is an unsupported product provided for your enjoyment.
